The Light
Read Daniel chapter 5 Why No Grace for Belshazzar?
22 And you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this.
But the God in whose hand is your breath, and whose are all your ways, you have not honored.
Ignorance vs Ignoring
Ignorance is making decisions with the lack of adequate knowledge. Ignoring is making decisions in spite of plain knowledge. I was too little to help that Sunday but when they left for the woods after lunch I was scared. I somehow knew dad was doing something he wasn’t supposed to do. I was 7 when Dad got hurt and 19 when he finally healed: but I still rebelled ignoring all that. Belshazzar had seen impregnable fortresses breached by his father his entire life but pride somehow elevated Babylon above all that. Under siege by the Meades and Persians he was having a drinking party and drinking to Idols with God’s dishes. Ignorance was not knowing the Light, Belshazzar rejected the Light. So many died with Belshazzar that night why did the 3rd ruler of all the kingdom live? Does that mean if you rebel in plain knowledge you are doomed? God saved me! So what is the difference between me and Belshazzar? A couple words “Humility” and “Repentance”: the Light showed me the only path that allowed me to live. 23 'And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? ' Luke 9:23-25 ESV
