The Battle is Real
Nehemiah faced the threats of Sanballat and Tobiah the whole time he was building the wall. As the breaches of the wall closed they sent letters to try to draw him away so they could kill the leader and stop the work. So Nehemiah appointed watchmen and set up a guard schedule and ordered that the gates not be open until mid morning. Those 2 men had made their fortunes by exploiting other people and Nehemiah separated them from their greatest spoil. They had to keep watch that the enemy did not climb or break through the wall in the middle of the night and take their prey. Nehemiah’s Battle is our Battle
