The Light
“1 'And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually. 3 Without the veil of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the Lord continually: it shall be a statute for ever in your generations. 4 He shall order the lamps upon the pure candlestick before the Lord continually.” ' Leviticus 24:1-4 KJV Happy Labor Day
The Labor of Light
For there to be light in the Holy Place there had to be a Menorah. 1. Moses received the design from God and he related that design to the goldsmith, and the Smith cast it. God uses men to make the things He wants made for our use. 2. The Children of Israel were instructed to beat Olives into Olive oil so the lamps could continually burn. It took picking Olives – producing the oil – and offering their labor to the LORD. 3. The Priests were to tend the light continually because the Light was supposed to symbolize God’s presence. God said “I will never leave nor forsake thee” and the menorah is a picture of the promise. A. Example of failure. 'And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the Lord. ' Numbers 26:61 KJV – They let the fire go out and went outside and got fire from outside the Tabernacle. They died because they were slack in their duty and then tried to cover it up. You can’t substitute any other spirit for the Holy Spirit. B. The Example to follow. 'And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; ' 1 Samuel 3:3 Sampson was sleeping in the Holy Place in the Tabernacle so he could keep that Light Shining! Are you keeping the LIGHT inside you like Nadab and Abihu or Sampson? If you feel like the Light inside you has gone out do what Nadab and Abihu should have done. Do the Work and seek the Lord to kindle His fire in your heart again: then KEEP it like Samuel. Spend every night and day in God’s presence.
