The Light
Psalm 74 is a Psalm of Asaph the descendant of Gershon the son of Levi the High Priest. He was appointed by King David to be over the music in the Temple. This Psalm could have been written by a descendant of Asaph because like my family they reuse names. However if it was written by the Asaph David appointed it was graphically prophetic in nature. He described the destruction of the temple down to the destroyers using axes to separate the gold from the walls. They burned the carvings overlaid with gold to melt the Gold and consume the wood to take the gold. If God gave the original Asaph this vision it may have even been before what he saw destroyed was built. Whether it was a vision or the sight of a descendant of Asaph the Psalm writer was deeply shaken. But all of that isn’t actually the point. The Point
