The Light
I saw the picture today online yesterday and the Lord said “Snip that for tomorrow’s Devotional.” When I read today’s verse I was taken aback and started with “Didn’t God Say…?” I know better so I said OK Lord. As I brought the picture up on the paint program God said “Put my Word in black over the sun.” Ezekiel 32 is God’s pronouncement of Judgment upon Egypt. Apparently the Jews at Jerusalem lower than the king and priests didn’t read Ezekiel. If they had they would not have forced Jeremiah to go down to Egypt after Jerusalem was taken. God had already said “Egypt – YOU NEXT!” The people that survived the siege of Jerusalem and the overthrow and destruction died cruelly in a strange land. Light Makes Decisions in Wisdom
Light is Humble Understanding
Another thought running through my mind this morning was telling God I am weary of all this. I am not supposed to worry about what others think but I am human and I go there often. I asked God “Can’t you just take me home so I don’t have to do this?” So in looking up this morning’s Scripture I read Ezekiel 32 but I clicked on chapter 3. I expected verse 7 to be about light but God was telling Ezekiel his “Job Description”. I realized my mistake and the Holy Spirit said “Keep reading! This is for you and this is your answer.” When I got to verse 16 God tells Ezekiel he is the Watchman for his people. Dad loves me dearly and he hated being so strict but he was one of 10 brothers and he understood. He knew that without discipline I would be an evil and useless person and that knowledge compelled him to stand. More than anything else my dad ever did for me those painful acts of love stand above the rest. His love would not allow me to be a criminal and he did whatever it took. As I said, Dad gave me the picture of how God deals with His children so the concept wasn’t new. That understanding is the Light that saves your soul because you understand only Jesus can save you. That same Light saves you from consequences because you know God means what He has said. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of Wisdom.”
