The Light
“CONTRADICTION the way Matthew said it… it had a different meaning!” Yes it does sound similar to what Matthew 10:27 says. That faithless “BUT” is showing it’s head again when Faith sees an and. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. Matthew 10:27 ESV https://my.bible.com/bible/59/MAT.10.27.ESV So did either Matthew or Luke misunderstand what Jesus said? It is questions like these that make or break faith. In Matthew Jesus was sending His disciples out to preach “The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand!” in Luke Jesus is telling His disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. So we are back to the folks that are keen on how things are seen but try to hide corruption. It is a context thing: Jesus was talking about two different things. So let’s take this verse into its context? 1 'In the meantime, when so many thousands of the people had gathered together that they were trampling one another, he began to say to his disciples first, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. 3 Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops. ' Luke 12:1-3 https://my.bible.com/bible/59/LUK.12.1-3 Who Makes Secrets Known?
What Hiding Things Hides from You
The Pharisees hiding the true nature of their religious thinking kept them from seeing Jesus as He is. Satan kept them bound with their ceremonies they did not understand when all those things were pictures of Jesus. What does it matter how things look to others when you are right with God? In the last year God has brought a lot of my secrets to Light. Many things I had suppressed to the point I didn’t remember: when you clean house you find junk. When you find junk you dispose of it to make room for good things. I am not saying you need to get up before church and blurt everything out before the congregation. As with all things you need to get on your face before God and let Him lead you in what to do. In me I see how God has used the whole process for His glory and to shine the Light of His Grace. Hiding sin hides you from God’s presence and gives Satan a place in your life.
