The Light
“THE WHOLE WORLD IS GOING TO HELL!” The thought Jesus would like to convey to you is “I am glad you finally noticed.” I am asking you to read all of Matthew 5 today but I want you to concentrate on verses 2-13. 17 – 20 Jesus is saying He came to fulfill the law not to abolish it. Verses 21 – 48 explain how the law He gives is actually more strict than the written law. Jesus is saying the offense begins with the way we think and the thought entertained is sin. Those examples and specifics are important but cutting out the problem at the root requires replacing the fallen root. What we call the Beatitudes is replacing fallen thinking with heavenly. The whole world is indeed darkness and we can’t make a difference being just like it. Being the Light in this dark world means you have to be different. Being “Poor in Spirit” means you understand your own spiritual poverty and you ask for God’s Grace. You are blessed because God gladly and always answers that humble prayer. Mourning the condition of this fallen world compels you to go to God in prayer and He gives the Gospel. That Good News that saves your soul is Light to share with those in Satan’s dungeon. Being Meek
Hungering and thirsting after RIGHTEOUSNESS
Mercy
Pure in Heart
Peacemakers
persecuted for Righteousness sake
