The Watchman
'For thus the Lord said to me: “Go, set a watchman; let him announce what he sees. ' Isaiah 21:6 ESV Introduction
The Purpose of this weeks Devotionals
We are going to be focusing on our duty given by God to sound the warning. It is noteworthy that the Watchman is not held accountable for the outcome of the battle: his or her purpose is to sound the alarm. 'Then he who saw cried out: “Upon a watchtower I stand, O Lord, continually by day, and at my post I am stationed whole nights. ' Isaiah 21:8 in verse 9 when the watchman sounded and announced what he saw and heard God’s Word exclaimed “Babylon is Fallen”. The Reason Babylon was prophesied to fall 'A stern vision is told to me; the traitor betrays, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, O Elam; lay siege, O Media; all the sighing she has caused I bring to an end. ' Isaiah 21:2 ESV God used Nebuchadnezzar and his nation of Babylon to correct Israel’s Idolatry and remove them as a nation. The Traitor was betrayed and the destroyer was destroyed: both terms apply to Satan and he should look and understand well. As God used these evil nations to chastise His chosen people God allows Satan to do things that Satan intends to destroy with, to correct us. When the time comes just like Belshazzar he should just keep partying because any army he musters or watch he sets will be defeated by Jesus’ authority alone. So I recommend you make sure you are standing with God instead of him. Conclusion
