The Light
I have told the story of the first night I read the entire book of Ecclesiastes. I read it laying on the bed from a motel room Gideon Bible while I was stranded from a breakdown. My cousin had been in a serious accident and no one was giving me any details over the phone. My “Franticallity” was running full blast and there was no place to go. The world was coming apart just like that old Astro 95 and I couldn’t fix any of it. I found the Bible in the end table and played “Bible Roulette” and it opened to Ecclesiastes chapter 1. Looking back just at the words “ALL is vanity” it could have escalated my wrong thinking: God gave me peace. It was a Big hug from my Heavenly Daddy saying “I know child: but I’ve Got this.” 'Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. ' 2 Timothy 4:2 Paul got the meaning of of Ecclesiastes 11 and he told Timothy to be about his work no matter what. If it’s time to sow God’s Word: sow even if there is a storm brewing. When it’s time to reap precious souls to Salvation do not withhold your hand. The rest of life’s stuff is just stuff: God is telling us to not overthink, just work as he leads. From the leading a soul to eternal Salvation to planting a seed for a flower to grow: enjoy Him today. I learned that night how powerless I had actually been my entire life and I saw God in contrast. In my darkness I saw Him in His omnipotence and God gave me that peace that passes all understanding. That night God became my “Heavenly Dispatcher” and my whole duty became “Just Drive” or “Live”. Routes and destinations, pickups and deliveries all on His Schedule for His purpose. My darkest hours have always made the awesomeness of God’s Light plain and rapturous. And yes I just found Spiritual Meaning in hauling plywood and 2×4s. God put a backward introvert in a job that had 50 drops a week with 3 to 5 people I had to deal with and minister to. My Air Conditioning business was the same: I had to deal with and serve multitudes of people. Everything was by God’s design. Conclusion
