The meeting centered on the role of the Levites, descendants of Levi, in biblical history, particularly their dedication to doing what's right, following God's will, and defending righteousness. The Levites were given unique responsibilities, such as managing the Tabernacle and serving in religious roles, in recognition of their commitment. Unlike other descendants of Jacob, they did not receive land but a spiritual inheritance, emphasizing the importance of focusing on spiritual growth over earthly possessions. Levi's worship of God, upholding of truth, righteous living, and positive influence was highlighted. Attendees were urged to emulate Levi's life, uphold righteousness, and value their relationship with God.

  • Commit to becoming individuals of truth by studying God's word and applying it in life. [7][8][9]
  • Strive to live according to God's word, backing up verbal declarations with actions. [10][11][12]
  • Be willing to stand up for what is right and spread the word of God to others. [13][14][15]

Topics discussed

  1. Levi's family, God, Tabernacle, Walking with God (00:00:00 - 00:18:24)
The discussion focussed on the role of the Levites, descendants of Levi, in biblical history. They were noted for their commitment to doing what's right, following God's will, and defending righteousness. God, recognizing their steadfastness, gave them unique responsibilities such as managing the Tabernacle and serving in religious roles. Levi's family didn't receive land as an inheritance like the other descendants of Jacob, instead, their focus and inheritance were spiritual in nature. It draws on the principle that believers should concentrate on their spiritual inheritance, not earthly possessions. It was emphasized how Levi worshiped God genuinely, upheld truth, lived a righteous life, and exerted a positive influence on others. The speaker also exhorted everyone to emulate the life of Levi by standing up for what is right, living righteously, and valuing their relationship with God.

2009. So just like Levi defended what was right to the point. He went and killed this whole city of men. Now his family is doing the same thing again. They weren't doing what was wrong they were doing. God's bidding. God was cleaning house because of, of the wrong that was done. No, Aaron was not cute. But 3000 people did die that day. You know how they chose who or what?

I don't know. But it was the Children of Levi that did it. So these are people who are warriors who are gonna stand up and defend what's right. Generations later still going on. They've been taught, it's been passed down. This family is a family that does what's right, that's what they're known for. So it's interesting to me that when God brought Israel into the promised land in and God said he was going to give each one of Jacob's Children an inheritance, he picked Levi's entire

family out and he gave them specific jobs. Look in the numbers, numbers chapter one, verse 50. God told Moses in numbers one and 50 thou shalt appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of testimony. So God put him in charge of the Tabernacle over all the vessels over all things that belong to it. He said they shall bear the Tabernacle, all the vessels thereof and they shall minister unto it and shall encamp round about the Tabernacle.

So I've never thought about this before. Never realized this until studying. Why did God choose the Levites? Because these people were gonna defend what was wrong. These were the people that would do whatever it takes to make sure that what was right was done, right? There was no compromise with these people and God wanted the Tabernacle will be taken care of.

It, had to be done, right? You remember when AA decided to carry the ark on a cart and it stumbled and he touched it and he died. You know, when it, if it wasn't done right, there was grave consequences. So God chose a family that was willing to do what was right. And I think that's the biggest point of this lesson from Levi is walking with God requires us to be warriors who are willing to defend what are, who are willing to stand up even when no one else will and say that's not right.

And so that's not gonna happen. That's the people that God chose to do the work of the Taber. Now, as a result of them being chosen for this, look in Deuteronomy chapter 10, Deuteronomy. Chapter 10 in verse none. Well, we're back up to verse eight. Moses was talking about different inheritances. Deuteronomy 10 and eight says at that time, the Lord separated the tribe of Levi to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord to stand before the Lord to minister unto him, to bless in his name

unto this day. Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brother. He didn't get any land. So all the other 11, they all got a section of land, right? This was where, you know, all the Reubenites lived and this is where all the Simeon kites lived. And this is where the Manassas lived and the Ephram nots and you know, all the different descendants of Jacob, but the Levites, they didn't get no land but look what they did get.

It says the Lord is his inheritance. Well, would you rather have a little bit of land or a whole lot of water? Right? According as the Lord, thy God promised him. Now, the Levites were allowed to live in certain cities, but still their inheritance was different. They weren't given a portion on this earth. Their inheritance was focused on the war.

And when we walk with God, we're the same way. We're not focused on what we get here, right? We're focused on what we're gonna get there. Our inheritance isn't on this earth. Our inheritance is waiting for us in heaven. One of these days, Jesus will come back and it'll be well well worth the the wait. So Levi's family was known as a family that walked with God.

So not just this man, but this man passed it on to his family for generations, which is very unusual. David. David passed it on to Solomon. But then after Solomon died, you know, we don't see it continually right with his kids, different people in the Bible that we read about how great they were. We, we read about how great job was. We never read how great his kids were.

We read how Great Daniel was. We don't even know if Daniel had kids, you know, but Leva for generations for many, many years, a family that continued to defend what was right at any cost, even their own cost. And so Psalm 135 in verse 20 even David recognize this. The Psalmist said, bless the Lord o house of Levi. Ye that fear the Lord bless the Lord.

The Levites were the ones that really feared the Lord the most and served the Lord the most. So that's why when we get over to the book of Malachi and you finally have a group of Levites that's not doing right. It's so disturbing that God sent Malachi to prophesy to him because they've been taught to do right? So God gave him the example of Levi and he said he walked with me.

So I wanna go back to that passage in Malachi and, and let's see if we can pick out exactly what God says that, that Levi did in his walk with the Lord Malachi chapter two. And verse four, he said, you shall know I have sent this commandment unto you that my covenant might be with Levi saith the Lord of all. And he says, my covenant was with Him of life and peace and I gave it to him.

And the first thing God says is for the fear wherewith he feared me because he was afraid before my name. What does that mean? Levi was walking around trembling all the time afraid God was gonna kill him if he didn't do what was right? Is, is that what it means

to me? It sounds like he was just to me, it's not like you said trim and it's we understand He is awesome and mighty to the point

is recognizing who God is. We would call that worship. Levi was a man that really worshiped God. Yeah, he, he fearing God doesn't mean he was afraid of him, but it does mean he knew who he was. He, he knew who we were your boss at work. You're probably not physically afraid of Him, but you know who they are. But you know, they hold that authority and so you honor that in the same way.

That's what it's saying about Levi. He recognized who God was and he, he worshiped him walking with God requires us to worship God to know who He is and to honor him for who he is. Then verse six, the second thing he said about Levi, the law of truth was in his mouth and iniquity was not found in his lips. What's the law of truth?

...

Speaker 1

I definitely think that applies. Don't, Levi was someone who evidently had studied whatever portion of the word they had and he knew it. He was also someone who he didn't go around lying. He spoke the truth. The only way we can speak absolute truth is to speak God's word because we know that God's word is true. So definitely God's word applies here, Levi again teaches us that if we walk with God, we're not only going to worship Him, but we're also gonna be in the world that we're gonna

be men and women of truth in the way that we speak. And in the things that we speak of in, in God's word, the law of truth. It's important for us to be in the world. Then the third thing he said at the end of verse six, he said, he walked with me in peace and equity. He walked with God. So in other words, he didn't just talk to talk, did he, he, he just said, he, he spoke the right things.

Now he's saying he also did the right thing. He backed up the truth that he spoke with the truth that he lived, he walked with God. How can you walk with someone? Well, if you were walking with someone you would recognize that they're right there beside you. Right. I'm not necessarily recommending this TV show but my older kids got us, got my wife and I, I guess hooked, you might say, and we've been watching this show called Big Brother where these people live in this house together.

Well, there was a contest the other night and some people lost and as a result of getting lost, they were literally leashed to one another for 48 hours. They had to walk around together everywhere. They were tied up together. They couldn't get away from each other. Then they went to the bathroom or whatever, didn't matter. They were constantly together.

They were very aware of each other's presence, right? after the 48 hours was over, they asked him, they said, you know, how was this experience? And both of them said something very interesting. They said, well, I learned an awful lot about the other person. How do you learn a lot about somebody? Yeah, I spend time with him, walking with God and spending time with God living the way he wants us to live.

He said, in peace to be at peace with God. Isn't that good and equity? And then it said he did turn many away from iniquity his life. Levi's life had a huge impact on a lot of people, not only Him, but then all of his descendants, because the whole nation of Israel would come to Levi to lead them in receiving God's forgiveness, right? His family was the ones that was offering the sacrifice.

They were doing the work of God. He said in verse seven, for the priest lips should keep knowledge. Now it would be real easy for you to say, yeah, that's your job preacher. These are preachers, right? But we're all preachers, aren't we? As God's Children? Our lips should have some knowledge of God's word. We're willing to speak. He said they should seek the law at his mouth.

We should desire to know God's word so that we can use it. He says for He is the messenger of the Lord of hosts and the Bible is very clear that we are the ambassadors for Christ. We're the modern day Leva. We gotta be willing to defend what's right. And we've also got to live what's right? And we've got to talk what? Right? And we gotta tell people about God's word.

God was getting on to these Levites because they weren't doing that. So we don't wanna be like that. We wanna be like their dad, their grandpa, their great grandpa. We wanna be like Levi, we wanna have that testimony where God says He walked with me and Levi was a man who walked with God. We see it in his worship, we see it in His word. We see it in his walk and we also see it in his work.

I gained a great deal of appreciation for Levi studying this. He was a warrior for what was right? May we walk with God and strive to do what's right? Let's pray, father. Thank you for all these men and women we've been studying about the example they left Lord. Thank you for sharing your word with us. So we too can learn to walk with you. God help us to be more aware of your presence in our life.

Just help us to just tie ourselves to you and be with you all day and get to know you better. God help us to be willing to stand up for what's right, even in, in this world today where there's so much wrong, Father, help us to back up the things that we say and believe with our actions in our life, help us to live for you and work for you.

And God help us to recognize who you are just to really be in awe of you and worship Father. Thank you for Jesus. We thank you so much for what He did for us and we love you. I thank you for what you do for us every day. Help us to do more for you. In Jesus name, we pray amen.
